Your Consolations Delight My Soul

I just wanted to share something with you that encouraged my heart today . . .

If the LORD had not been my help, my soul would soon have dwelt in the abode of silence.
If I should say, "My foot has slipped," Your lovingkindness, O Lord, will hold me up.
When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Your consolations delight my soul.
(Psalm 94:17-19)

My soul, wait in silence for God only, for my hope is from Him . . . Trust in Him at all times . . . Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. (Psalm 62:5,8)

Amen.

I am SO THANKFUL God provided us with the Psalms. He uses them to comfort us in the dark days and rejoice with us in the happy days.

I was really glad to hear Danny say Sunday that God's giving him a new love for the Psalms. Maybe someday he'll preach from them? Or is he leaving that up to Jason?

Kati - i agree; i've become so thankful for the Psalms over the past few years. I sometimes have a hard time understanding how the psalms of imprecation over David's enemies can truly be inspired; but overall, the psalms are a tremendous source of hope and joy.

if our church ever started going through the psalms (using sequential exposition), i'm thinking we'd be empty-nesters before the series ended! :D

If YOU would be an empty nester - where do you think that would put me??????

I can always find something in Psalms that seems to be only for me, exactly when I needed it.

I'm reading Dee Brestin's "Women of Moderation." It has to do with eating. In this battle with disordered eating, or any addiction, for that matter, she encourages us to have "Psalm Meals," that is, praying through the Psalms, 3 each day plus one section of Ps. 119, one in the early morning, one for breakfast, one for lunch, one for dinner, and personalizing them and crying out to God for our help. I'm a babe in this endeavor but it is really meaningful and becoming helpful. Such depth!!! mm

Wow, isn't it great how much the Psalms can speak to us today in all sorts of situations? David is top on my list of people to meet in heaven! I thank God for him! Hey, it's Psalm 94, not 93....I went looking for those verses to underline b/c they are good for me too! But, I read the whole of Psalm 94! What a great psalm for today. Thanks for sharing.
